Become a Permanent Resident of the European Union (EU) by purchasing property worth EUR 500,000 or more, with the EU Golden Visa program. In addition to a solid property investment, you and your family – including your parents, not just your partner and children – gain access to living, working, studying, or just simply enjoying yourself, anywhere in the EU, without needing a visa or anything else.
Whilst many EU countries have their own version of the program, we have chosen to highlight Spain, a beautiful country with year-round sunshine, home to a thriving expatriate scene with residents originally from all over the world, and a local culture which draws countless millions of repeat visitors for their holidays again and again.
From a property investment perspective, it is very attractive – particularly outside of the big cities. We have chosen to feature the Costa Calida – the “warm coast” – for a number of reasons.
Firstly, the weather! Somewhat unsurprisingly, this part of Spain gets it’s name from the microclimate it enjoys – commonly regarded as one of the healthiest places to live in Europe (Google it, it’s true).
Secondly, the location and infrastructure – whilst Spain has had significant improvements to infrastructure everywhere in recent years, the Murcia region has benefited hugely – you can drive to Barcelona (north-east along the coast), Marbella/Malaga (south-west along the coast), and Madrid (north-west inland) within a few hours on brand new motorways, and there’s a just-opened new international airport in Murcia (code: RMU) to compliment nearby Alicante airport (code ALC) which is only 30-60 minutes away, and Valencia airport (code VLC) a little further up the coast.
Thirdly, the property market in this part of Spain is currently hugely undervalued, when compared to some of the more famous areas of the Spanish coastline such as the Costa del Sol. For the same price as a tiny apartment in Marbella or Barcelona, you can get a palacial detached villa here!
The Permanent Residency Golden Visa program requires you to hold on to the property/properties you purchase for 5 years, so in addition to the fantastic quality of life in this region, it makes sense to take a longer-term view from an investment perspective – and we think that the Costa Calida fits this requirement perfectly.
Please note that the minimum value of purchased property must be EUR 500,000 or more to get the EU Permanent Residency – but, helpfully, this doesn’t have to be just one property. You can purchase multiple properties and combine the values to reach the threshold.
Once purchased, you are free to live there or rent them out for income – and whatever you choose to do with the property, you and your family will be Permanent Residents of the EU and enjoy all of the rights and benefits that come with it.
Properties may be purchased without visiting, and video tours can be arranged upon request. If you are interested and would like to discuss further, please contact us!
